About K9 Collective
Hello!
I’m Kdst, the founder of K9 Collective. Feel free to call me KD if you’d like.
I’ve been working with dogs for the past three years, building hands-on experience through walking, training, and caring for dogs of all kinds. What started as a flexible way to support myself during school quickly grew into a true passion. I recently completed my business certificate program at SAIT, and I’m excited to now be offering my services full-time. Through structured walks, small group adventures, or focused training, I’m here to help dogs live their best lives—and make things a little easier for you, too.
Specialized Training
All Private On-Leash Walks incorporate experienced special training cultivated around your dogs behavioural needs- with no extra charge. With consistency, these sessions are designed to build better habits, boost confidence, and make life easier for both you and your dog.
Engagement Training
Engagement Training focuses on teaching your dog to stay mentally connected with you, especially around distractions. Through positive reinforcement, your dog(s) learns to check in, respond to cues, and walk calmly by your side.
You will notice your dog(s) becoming more attentive on walks, less reactive to distractions, and more eager to listen both inside and outside the home.
Impulse Control
Impulse Control training helps your dog learn to pause, think, and make better choices instead of reacting on instinct. Through practicing commands and calm greetings, your dog develops patience and self-regulation.
This leads to better leash behaviour, and fewer impulsive behaviours like jumping, barking.
Heel Work
Heel Work teaches your dog to walk calmly and consistently at your side, without pulling or drifting. It builds focus, impulse control, and a stronger handler-dog connection especially in busy or high-distraction environments.
With consistent practice, you will experience smoother walks, better leash manners, and dogs that looks to you for direction, rather than leading the way.
Recall Training
Recall Training teaches your dog to come when called, reliably and confidently. We start on a long lead to build consistency and safety, gradually working toward off-leash freedom once your dog is ready.
Strengthening your dog’s response around distractions, this training is essential for off-leash safety.
FAQs
How does home entry work?
Home entry is simple and secure. You’ll provide your preferred method of entry (e.g., lockbox, code, hidden key, etc.) and any important details, like where to find your dog, their leash or harness, and anything else we should know to ensure a smooth pick-up. All access to information is kept confidential and used solely for scheduled services.
Can I join on my dog’s training walk?
You're welcome to join your dog’s training walk if you'd like to see the techniques in action. Walking alongside allows you to observe how I work with your dog and practice applying the same methods on your own. I’ll supply training tools (e.g., clicker, gentle lead, etc.) and demonstrate proper techniques and guidance tailored to your dog’s behaviour so you can feel confident continuing the training at home.
Do you offer updates after walks?
Yes! We’re happy to provide walk updates along with photos of your dog’s outing. You’ll also be notified when your dog is picked up and dropped off, so you’re always in the loop.
